In July, according to Korean publication ET News, Kia will finally stop production of the Mohave/Borrego SUV. During the second half of the year, the Autoland-1 plant in Hwangseong, where the Kia Mohave has been assembled for the past 17 years, will be installing and setting up equipment for the production of another vehicle on a frame chassis – the latest Kia Tasman mid-size pickup truck.

The Kia Mohave was designed with the American market in mind, which explains its peculiar design at the intersection of crossover and SUV. On the one hand, it has a classic layout, allowing to equip it with large capacity engines and chassis on a strong steel spar frame, on the other hand – a fully independent suspension and multi-plate clutch in the drive of the front wheels. The Ford Explorer and Chevrolet TrailBlazer of the mid-2000s had the same design.
